Krone’s novel folding mower cutterbar now available in the UK

Farmers and contractors are now able to pair Krone’s trailed or butterfly rear mowers with a 4m-wide front unit to increase the overlap and minimise the likelihood of missed strips when cornering or cutting on banks.

The novel Easycut F 400 CV front mo-co has a folding cutterbar, which means it can deliver a 4.04m-wide cut in the field, yet be swung in to 3m for safe carriage on the road.

This process sees a hydraulic slewing gearbox pivot the two outer discs into the void between the mower body and front tractor wheels, while the outer protection guards swing upwards.

The reverse applies upon reaching the field, with the discs folded back into work and hydraulically secured in position.

The extra 80cm working width over Krone’s standard 3.2m mower provides more margin for error between front and rear implements.

This, the company says, means there’s less risk of the tractor running on cut grass or leaving uncut strips.

Other features of the EC 400 mower include hydraulic suspension as standard, steel tine conditioners and a push-type headstock that mounts directly to the tractor’s link arms, rather than via an A-frame.

It weighs 1,750kg and requires roughly 100hp to run.

List price is £33,265. By comparison, the 3.2m wide version with a like-for-like spec is £24,565.
