Tracker firm sends ‘hunter’ team to track down stolen farm kit

Farmers plagued by machinery theft now have the option of a dedicated “task force” to quickly track, secure and retrieve their stolen items.

Agriculture is a lucrative industry for criminals, with plenty of high-value equipment that is quick and easy to move on.

Plus, crimes of this kind are classed as lower priority, meaning more than 70% of stolen vehicles are never recovered.

With criminals employing increasingly sophisticated tactics to get what they want, Taken’s Rapid Response Force (RRF) combines advanced tracking technology with a “boots-on-the-ground” approach to find and recover stolen assets.

A dedicated app allows easy reporting of theft to Taken RRF’s headquarters, then a nationwide task force of more than 200 so-called hunters uses data from the vehicle’s covert tracker to monitor the asset in real time.

Upon locating the vehicle, the hunter will liaise with the police to assist them in securing a prosecution.

The average time for police to find a stolen vehicle is currently 52 hours, while Taken RRF boasts an average find time of just 46 minutes, with 100% of their customer’s stolen vehicles returned so far.

The project aims to reduce losses through swift, secure recovery and, ultimately, drive down theft by providing a deterrent.

Taken RRF says its covert tracker is easy to install, transferrable to any piece of equipment, IP65 waterproof, S7 Thatcham accredited, and provides round-the-clock theft support.

Trackers start from £449 including a 12-month subscription.
