Dutch robotic manufacturer AgXeed introduced a new four-wheeled 75hp autonomous tractor at the Cereals event.

With a 2.9-litre diesel engine and electrically driven pto, the Agbot 2,055W4 is specifically suited for seed-bed preparation, sowing and mechanical weeding.

It also has scope for use in grassland systems and is capable of mowing grass with reverse-mode driving.

Weighing 3.5t, the new robot is considerably lighter than the tracked model launched last year, which weighs 8t, features a 160hp engine and was designed for more heavy-duty arable tasks such as cultivating.

The 2,055W4 wheeled version has a top speed of 13kph and is compatible with a range of existing farm implements. It is capable of lifting 4t on the rear and 1.5t on the front.

AgXeed marketing manager Phillipp Kamps explained that the robots would be best suited to lighter arable operations such as seeding and weeding, but the company also sees a place for this machine in grassland management.

“It’s a lightweight machine and, considering its 3.5t empty weight, in combination with large tyres of 710mm, we see a lot of potential for this on UK farms,” he said.

To program the robot, a user would log in to the AgXeed portal, entering specific parameters and assigning tasks with just a few mouse clicks.

The robot will be commercially available for use on UK farms in the spring of 2023, but growers are able to sign up for the offering today.
